Ki Tisah 21-5

When you lift up

Exodus 34:1-9

Be ready by the morning, and come up in the morning to Mount Sinai, and present yourself there to me on the top of the mountain.

Ex. 34:2 ESV

When is the time to present oneself before the Eternal?

Moshe and the people had a second chance. The Eternal listened to Moshe's intercession for his people and told him to carve another pair of stone tablets like the ones he had broken. How kind is the Eternal who sometimes gives us a second chance.

Moshe had to get ready and present himself before the Eternal in the morning in order to be able to gaze at His beauty, but only His back. The Eternal doesn't have a body because He is Spirit, but He can manifest in the eyes of men as if He had a body. In that way, Moshe was able to see the Eternal's "back", which means he couldn't see all His glory and beauty - no one can do that and live.

Now, this text can help encourage us to wake up every morning and present ourselves before the Eternal. One who loves the Eternal more than anything puts Him on the first place, even in the morning. If we have breakfast before coming before the Eternal, we are sending the message to heaven that our bodies are more important than the Eternal in our lives. We must first come before the Eternal and then we can have breakfast. The one who always places the Eternal in the first place has his priorities in right order and will be able to see His beauty.

Many blessings,

Ketriel
